Cardiology
Heart problems are very prevalent in older pets. If we
detect a heart murmur (an irregularity in the blood flow through the heart) or an arrhythmia (an irregularity in the heartbeat), then we may suggest that an echocardiogram and/or an EKG be performed. The EKG and echocardiogram, or ultrasound of the heart, are the most common tools used to assess the health of the heart. Dr. Cecilia Helinsky, a veterinary cardiologist, regularly visits our clinic to perform the necessary diagnostics and treat our patients.
